Dr Muhammad Asif General Practitioner

Dr Muhammad Asif graduated in Medicine in 1989 and arrived in Australia in 2002. After working several years as a procedural General Practitioner in rural South Australia he gained his Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners in 2004 and moved to Geelong in 2005. Dr Asif is an experienced general practitioner with a particular interest in cardiovascular disease. He holds a Professional Certificate in Skin Cancer Medicine, and performs skin surgical procedures and joint injections. Dr Asif is fluent in English and Bengali and has a working knowledge of Urdu and Hindi. Dr Asif has been an examiner for the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners since 2007 and he is also an examiner for the Deakin University Medical School. Dr Anthony Bongiorno General Practitioner

Dr Tony Bongiorno graduated from Melbourne University in 1982. Dr Bongiorno trained at The Royal Melbourne Hospital and Ballarat Base Hospital in medicine and obstetrics. He had interests initially in sports medicine and did further training in this field. As a result he has held honorary positions with the Ballarat Miners, North Ballarat Football Club, Ballarat Turf Club, East Ballarat Football Club and the Ballarat Trotting Club. His interests now however are firmly in family-oriented general practice, and he particularly enjoys paediatric practice. He is humbled by the fact he can be a small part of people’s lives with his role in general practice.
Dr Tony has worked as a GP in Ballarat since 1985 and is now moving to Thirteenth Beach to enjoy the weather and more visits from his children and grandchild, all who enjoy the beach and the odd game of golf. He enjoys going to the footy and the odd trip to the races.

Dr Avdo Makas General Practitioner

FRACGP

Dr Avdo Makas graduated with a medical degree in Sarajevo in 1987 and worked in a country hospital in settings similar to general practice before migrating to Australia in 1993. He worked at the Werribee Mercy Hospital and the Geelong University Hospital where he held the position of Senior Hospital Medical Officer, gaining experience in various surgical disciplines, paediatric, anaesthetic, rehabilitation medicine, emergency, obstetric and gynaecology, and palliative care. In 2007, Dr Makas become a Fellow of The Royal Australian College of General Practitioners. Dr Makas has special interests in general medicine, paediatric care, women’s health, and small surgical procedures.

Dr Jan Wissfeld General Practitioner

Dr Jan Wissfeld MBBS is a general practitioner who has worked in the Geelong area for many years. His special interest is family medicine.

Barb has over 15 years’ experience as a Social Worker and Counsellor. She is passionate, adaptable and works ethically, and is committed to building strong therapeutic relationships, with a client centred approach. Barb is dedicated to the achievement of positive change for clients and the wider community, through accurate assessment, effective evidence-based treatment and collaborate engagement. She has worked in a number of settings including Child Protection, Victims of Crime, Family Violence, Addictive Behaviours, Mental Health and Family and Relationships. A key strength of Barb’s is her patience and empathy for her clients, as she acknowledges that change can often be slow and that therapy is an experience not an explanation.
